CR 700, Wenasoga, MS
*originally recorded on 9-3-25*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, a RECO gate light, an NEG LED gate light, and a RECO LED gate light.
After catching the CPKC local again for the second time, I decided to hop over to this crossing in the nearby unincorporated community of Wenasoga to try for at least one more crossing before it got too late. Thankfully, a after a little while of waiting, I was able to catch my eighth and final train of the day: NS 285 with a pair of AC44C6Ms for power. Interestingly, these two locomotives are only 10 units apart on NS's roster.
This crossing is another nice one, featuring yet another 2000s NS install at it that's remained largely unchanged since it was installed. The closer signal does still retain an older RECO incandescent gate light on it, which is pretty nice to see, IMHO, as RECO gate lights of that style are getting harder to find these days. Hopefully this crossing remains largely unchanged for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to record it when I did.
