*originally recorded on 10-3-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WCH gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After catching the northbound grain train in Hopkinsville, vtgrxrman and I chased it north to this crossing in Crofton to catch it again. Thankfully, we were able to beat it here with a few minutes to spare. Here we see this northbound grain train flying through Crofton for the second time on this day.

This crossing is another great one, and I'm glad I was able to record it on this trip. The signals here were installed by CSX in the 1980s, which remained almost entirely unchanged for about three decades. Unfortunately, sometime between EthantheRailfanner documenting this crossing in 2020 and when he got the chance to film it in 2021, CSX upgraded this crossing to LED. Thankfully, since then, absolutely nothing else has changed to this crossing, which is great to see. Definitely nice to get some more older WCH signals filmed, and it's also nice to get another 80s CSX install filmed that's almost still fully original, even if it's now LED. I believe this crossing might be one of, if not the, last crossing on the CSX Henderson Sub these days without any gate mechs from the Safetran "family" at it, as it appears CSX recently-ish went through and purged the remaining GRS Type D gate mechs from the L&N along the line. Hopefully these older WCH signals remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to record this crossing when I did.
