*originally recorded on 10-4-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs.
Signal on the right: 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs and 2 pairs of Federal Signal 8 inch lights.

On the morning of October 4th, vtgrxrman and I got on up and checked-out of hotel in Madisonville and went over to the downtown to do some more railfanning on the CSX Henderson Subdivision. We got out here and, after a little while of waiting, we were able to catch our first train of the day: CSX I129 with a CM44AC leading an SD70MAC for power.

This crossing is another great one, featuring another nice old bell-less install. The signals here appear to have been installed back in the 1970s by the L&N, though, in the 2000s (or possibly the early-2010s), CSX replaced all of the mast lights here with the current Safetran 12x24s, though they were originally incandescent. The crossing then remained unchanged for some years after, but, then, sometime after 2021, CSX upgraded the mast lights here to LED.
Thankfully, since then, nothing else appears to have changed to this crossing. I'm glad to see the old bell-less signals are still here, especially with the old Federal Signal cantilever on the closer side of the crossing. I'm especially glad to see that the cantilever here still retains all of its original 8 inch overhead lights, I believe this crossing and the one in Earlington have the only remaining 8 inch lights left on the Henderson Sub. Hopefully these classic signals remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to have gotten it recorded when I did.
