After catching A432 meeting a coal train in Rives, I decided to chase the mixed freight down to this crossing in downtown Newbern to catch it again. Here we get to see CN A432 rolling south through downtown Newbern, making a lot of noise in the process.

This crossing is honestly another pretty nice one. The signals here were installed in the late-90s by the IC, along with the ones at the neighboring Parks Street crossing. It appears that, in the 2000s, CN upgraded this crossing to LED. Then, sometime between 2012 and 2016, CN replaced all of the original 24 inch backgrounds here with the current 20 inch ones. Finally, sometime between 2023 and 2024, the Safetran Hybrid bell here was sadly replaced with the current GS Type 3 e-bell.
Thankfully, despite the upgrades here, the closer signal still retains a full set of older RECO incandescent gate lights on it! Definitely nice to see some more incandescent gate lights here, especially since I wasn't expecting to find more here. Hopefully these remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm quite glad I got to record it when I did.
