Odd wayside signal

Can't have signals without railroads, so talk about your favorite locomotives, railroads and any other (non signal) railroad related stuff.

Odd wayside signal

Bringing this over from another thread:

Actually, that is what appears to be some type of homemade signal that has been there as long as I can remember. Funny thing about it, the signal displays yellow in both directions at all times, even when there is train present. I have never seen in it with a different color.

There are actually 2 more signals just like it on this line. They are not visible through Street View because Street View does not have all of our side streets available on the north side of town yet. But, I just purchased a new camera and can get pictures of the others, and a clearer picture of this one if you would like.

Yup... the 2nd picture is what I was talking about. That is the 2nd of 3 signals like that.

Notice it displays a yellow signal. Like I said, it ALWAYS displays a yellow signal, or it least it has every time I have seen it in the last 20 or so years. So what is the point of it?

My only theory to why it displays yellow all the time is beacuse of an upcoming switch or crossover.
