Bad translating is hardly limited to the Asians.

Several years ago, General Motors tried marketing the Chevy Nova in Mexico and Latin America, without changing the name of the car. Only after several months of horrible sales did the brass at GM realize that No Va in Spanish means "Doesn't go".

Sorry to burst the bubble, but that example you just described is fake.

It's comparable to a European dining room set called 'Notable' not selling simply because people interpreted the name as
"No Table."
