Triple Digit Record!

Post by Smjh1979 »

35th Ave. & Indian School Rd. in Phoenix just hit a milestone, and not in a good way...

The combined total of the accidents between the two crossings hit 100! 21 for Indian School (gated), and 79 for 35th Avenue (gateless).

Sneaking up right behind is 27th Ave. & Thomas Rd. Those two crossings used to have 85 accidents, but is now up to 89!

The last 15 accidents I saw were train speeds between 15 to 20 MPH.

BTW: The last half (44 accidents) were from 1998-2009.

Locomotives and rolling stock are 10 feet wide.

Can you link to aerial views?
What is the problem?
Drivers stopping on the tracks behind vehicles ahead which then don't move?

Thank you.

Many accidents were failure to stop, and stopping on the tracks. That area, along with 27th & Thomas are 3-way traffic light intersections with red lights possibly as long as 4-5 minutes, with left turn arrows possibly as long as 6 minutes. That's probably why there are so many stopping failures.

Thank you for the aerialinks.

The restaurant has their own signal with gate!
Wonder who paid for that?

This is better. You can also view from four different directions:
