Rail Trail signals?

Here's an interesting reuse of signals. This is in Sarasota, Fl along a former CSX line. Wonder if the actually work.

Other pictures reveal "Sarasota Rail Tram" on the crossbuck after they turned the signals 90 degrees?
Why?

At first I thought they turned the signals 90 degrees to make them less noticeable to traffic until they are removed.

Hate to see track taken up.

Maybe there is something planned there for the future?

Or, they just left them there as some type of display or something. Wonder if they still operate?

Even as a static display, it's a cool idea. :TUP2:
