Does this signal simply flash all the time to let drivers know not to stop on the track?
Is that a locomotive in the distance to the west withree lights?
Why are the gates not down?

In the first link, a train had just passed the crossing. If you look to the west you can see the end of the train, a tanker car. As you advance forward, the car moves further into the distance.

On the second link, that is definitely a locomotive, although it looks to be on a side track. You can see it much better by zooming in:

Yes. I was wondering why the signal was still flashing even though the train had passed the crossing.
In the second, why the gates were not down if the signals were activated. (Glad they were not. The traffic impact would be horrible.)
