What is "Fading" LEDs.
Meant to mimic gradual light up and dim down of incandescent filaments?
The sharp on and off is a better eye attrantant.

Yes, that's what fading LEDs mean. Many varieties have the instant on/off feature, but the Safetran FLX-2000 have a very noticable fade. The Safetran/Dialight FLX-4000 Ball LEDs have a slight fade, but not as noticable.
There is one type of LED made by GE/Harmon that also has a slight fade to it as well. Those are starting to become a little more popular out here.

I've got another minor update for this crossing coming for the November 30 update, and it shows a closeup of the LEDs. They are not Safetran FLX-2000 Fading LEDs that were reported here. They are actually WCH 2nd Generation non-fading LEDs.

Here's an example of fading LED's. Compare the regular signals to the gate lights, you can see the difference.

Also, if you didn't notice, the tip light on the gate closest to the camera in that video is flashing... Oops on the signal maintainer's part!

They have fixed the flashing gate light, just so you all know.
You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.
