Re: odd setup
I've been to the Port of Miami. LOTS of railroad crossings. Same w/ the Port of Tampa. In that area they have the setup where lights and such are mounted right on the traffic light poles. In both cases, it's kinda strange to have trains going right through the middle of businesses and neighborhoods.
That cake reminds me of one of my past cakes. WHen I was real little, my mom made me a traffic light cake!

Re: odd setup
Back in the late 80s, I wanted a warning sign cake. They tried, but something went wrong with the icing. I think they may have watered it down too much or something, I don't remember, but it didn't work, so they went inverted, and made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing, and yellow text. That's where I got the idea to make the inverted sign that's on the signs section Today.

Re: odd setup
You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.
Re: odd setup
Talk about your "franken"signals...
Go a little up and left to the Jefferson St. Xing and check out the nice 45-degree crossbuck also.
EDIT:
One more I found from just looking around that's just...
Never install a crossbuck while standing on your head:

Well,
Re: odd setup
Go forward just a bit and look at the other signal... no backgrounds on the side lights.
Also, regarding the Franken signal, we have a couple that look somewhat like that one:

Not sure why they didn't just use regalar canitlevers on these. There's another pair a block north of these signals on Adams St as well.

Corvallis, Oregon (known locally as Cow Town) has at least one set of those, these on Harrison Boulevard.cabman701 wrote:

Re: odd setup
Since we're on this subject, US 63 in Malcom, IA (IAIS). There used to be an overpass until the mid 90s when the highway bridge was torn out and replaced with this (not something the Iowa DOT does very often). This crossing is about 1/2 mile north of I-80. Hopefully Iowa Interstate plans on replacing the placards and painting the backgrounds on the WCH lights soon.
