Google Street View reveals...

:Censored: Goodbye gateless Griswold Type Bs.

This change has to have happened sometime after mid-May 2008, which was the last time I went by the crossing.

That was unexpected... I was expecting to see the 8" removed and replaced with 12"x24" frames. I wasn't expecting Safetran cantilevers, a Safetran type 3 e-bell and gates...

Funny how everything but the gate mechansims are Safetran. The mechanisms are US&S Model 95's.

That is quite an updgrade. Is anyone thinking overkill? Does that line get that much use?

The crossing is owned by Crap National, what do you expect?

FRA says only 4 daily trains since 2005. Who knows if there's been an increase, but somehow I doubt it. Maybe they've been watching the SJVR too much?

That's the CN Manitowoc Sub, the daily train count is pretty accurate, if anything a bit high.

IIRC there's a daily train to/from Manitowoc, and another that takes a secondary branch from Hilbert south to Kiel on alternate days...so some days it gets 4, other days only 2.

I am surprised by the Safetran Type 3 e-bell, which I didn't even notice until Mike pointed it out. CN has almost exclusively used GS Type 2 bells on their new/upgrade installations for a few years, even though they used other Safetran equipment like the cantilevers and frames for the Dialight L.E.D.s.
