UP did the same thing when they upgraded the crossing next to the Yard in Eagle Grove, Iowa... and also on the Jewell Sub, the crossings in Ames on 13th Street, 20th by Ames High, and 24th Street. Nice that they kept the old cantilever signals but they really bastardized them in the process of adding the gated signal in front. Which included taking out of service some perfectly good m-bells.
