Lets play "How Many Locos?"

Can't have signals without railroads, so talk about your favorite locomotives, railroads and any other (non signal) railroad related stuff.

Lets play "How Many Locos?"

Post by gedunk »

And by that I don't mean: How Many Crazies are on This Forum!

After the tunnel fire on Tehachapi Loop, UP diverted traffic over to its Coast Line. When Tehachapi reopened, UP then had too much power over on the coast, so here it comes back home through Caliente. All of them seemed to be running, and the sheer rumble from so many idling (and huge) engines was awesome!

Yes, it's really that green up there right now.

E Mail me, and I will send the full size shot to make the counting easier.

My guess is 20.

I edit my guess, upon checking a different way to count. My old guess was 16.

Only on the up...? Up? You mean UP?

I doubt there was any traffic from the coast that needed to come this way. These locomotive were simply heading back to their assigned division after emergency service on the Coast Line.

Sorry that you're bothered by the number of locos on the forum, but note that this thread is posted under "Railroad Discussion" and not "Crossing Signal News", and that "locos" in is the topic line. That should have been a giveaway that something about locomotives was in the post.

Yes, plus there appears to be a second locomotive in non-UP colors.

I say 20. I dont think they can have all 20 locomotives online at once, that would mean that the train has 120 powered axles. i bet only the first 2 or 3 were on.
