I ran across this video, this is in Apex, NC. Don't recall seeing a signal with the top part split in two:

Here's another signal like that in Richmond, VA. Even has a rusty Teardrop Bell.

Be interesting to find the make of those. I can't recall seeing that design before.

Makes me wonder if they were specifically designed like that for the old "A" frame (wishbone) type gates. The lights would be much easier to mount and the gate would not get in the way.

you are probably right. They were probaby designed to specifically for the A frame Gates to maintain them better. Would make sense.
