Whoops, didn't see this thread already. haha. To my amazement, there is one IN CHICAGO!!! I think it's the Chicago Rail Link. Or it could be the CN. I know it's a rough area, and I know I won't be going there, ever.

Oh well, it's better to Google to do it for us... Still rather impressive though.

SJVR outside of Kerman CA on stub siding of all places. Gateless to boot. This is off the once SP Westside line. The Google Map shows the siding doesn't cross this street, but apparently it does.

A crossing on the railroad I maintain has one...it's very rusty, and won't come off the top of the pole. That gate mechanism is really rare. It's a WRRS, but was designed by WABCO.

I'm curious: why the gated far back, and the gateless up close?

That is one rusty bell though! Does it still work? I'm sure it will come off - a little oxygen & actylene works wonders in these situations. :TUP2:

Oh OK. I wonder why that simply isn't just a "2 Tracks" single crossing. Must of had extra funds that year.

It means a lot less wiring to run though.

I've seen these while driving to the CAL FIRE Academy in Ione, CA. They're along the UP Ione branch that comes out of Galt. I wish I could see them in action some time.

Ione Michigan Bar Road - Northern Crossing

Ione Michigan Bar Road - Southern Crossing

I haven't seen any other ones around the Ione area, including along the old Amador Foothills line up to Martel.
