I just got this relay and need help wiring it to a power source. I can put two 9v batteries on the contacts and it will work. But what kind of transformer do i need to run it?

All that stuff was run off batteries, sometimes off primary batteries even. :)
If it was secondary batteries, then they were charged continuously.
Sometimes the secondary batteries were being kept charged by primary batteries.
Now they even got solar panels.

You wanting to run it with pulsating DC or what?

-------------------------

I installed the very first solar panel on the Tucson Division on my Signal Maintainer's
District at Hayden Junction. Two reasons for that, 1st) I had time to fool with it and
2nd) I wanted to fool with it. LOL :)

I can "hear" the conversation in the Tucson Signal Office right after it showed up...
"signal gang don't need to be wasting time installing this stupid &*% thing :/"
"I know, give it to that %^& Alvin, he'll install it and mess with it and like it ;)"
"yeah, he's so stupid he'll prob'ly -like- messing with it, what a butthead :/"

Prob'ly involved more cuss words tho.

And true to form, put the whole thing in by myself and thought it was cool. LOL :)

I installed it at a dragging equipment detector that was being ran off primary batteries.
