I don't understand: No one was able to run up the track and stop the train in time?

1. no he was trying to disconnect the rig from the trailer and take off, train was going 70 mph and dipstick here couldn't find one of ns 20 dot signs
2. dough theres any video/pictures from people on the ground since everyone took off running how ever NCDOT has cameras in its locals (speaking of that loco it went though its midlife crises overhaul and got new paint just over a month ago what a shame) and that small town has a few traffic cameras so many people say the wreck had to be caught on tape i cant wait to see that one i wish that trucker was in that truck thou one less idiot in this world then oh well

First, I would have shunted the rails with battery jumper cables. Signals activating would indicate a good shunt.
Next call police and 800 number and ask volunteers to run up track waving lit fusees (red flares) carried in the truck.
Then apply fuel or oil, if posssible, to the trailer beams to see if lubricant would allow the trailer to be pushed back off the high center.

As photographer, I would have backed away upstream but kept the camera going.
What idiots to miss such a photopportunity of a lifetime. Diesel fuel will not "explode" - if that was a concern.

Don't blame trucker for trying to save his truck after all else has been done.
Surprised thatrucker did not think to check before attempting that crossing.

This is a "professional", who has gone though numerous driving classes, who should know how to operate a rig and should have seen with his own F King eyes, that crossing will not support a low boy. Not to mention THE DAMN SIGNS NS, NCDOT have put up warning no truck traffic, then he tried to take off and leave the seen no, he doesn't give a shit about anything but the fact hes going to lose his job.
If i were that engineer (who got hurt not to mention), Id own myself a trucking company. In fact I hope the city, NCDOT, and NS all come together and sue the last nickel out of that guy and the trucking company. Also diesel fuel doesn't "explode" but it does catch on fire and a fire can quickly engulf something like it did the engine in this case. Now im not going to spread roamers but i know people that work for the NS on this division including one thats a friend of the engineer involved in this wreck, what they told me was this guy was stuck for over 20 mins on the crossing with out calling 911 or the railroad just sitting obstructing traffic, I could only wish he was in the truck when it got hit. seriously would any of you want to share the road with this trucker if so please reply below

Wow, I did not know that there were clearly posted traffic signs prohibiting low-clearance vehicles which the dolt disregarded.
Nor that the moron was on the crossing for 20 minutes without notifying anyone. Probably wanted to avoid a $66 ticket.

Do you mean that these ridiculous "horns" sound even though the signals have not activated?
Or do you mean thathe the signals activate with no train?
That has always been a problem.
Have never seen it happen in Denver. Maybe due to dry climate.

The only thing I LIKE about these absurd unneeded horns is that they do not disturb the whole neighborhood
as a locomotive horn would. The sound is aimed where needed and spreads littlelsewhere.
