Lumber street crossing isn't the most unique in Chicago, but it's up there. Owned by Amtrak, shared by Metra, NS, UP (although not for much longer), and BNSF. Amtrak uses this crossing to get their equipment in and out of the Amtrak 12'th street shops, the line also serves purposes for routed Amtraks, routed Metras, and routed freights. The routed trains I'd say bring the total to about some 50 trains a day, but the shop movements bring the total up possibly past 150. It's outside of the Chicago Loop, but the crossing IS NOT A QUIET ZONE!!!
The crossing features:
12X24 Safetran LED lights, including 3 sets which feature a black back cover.
Two WCH E-bells (one of which doesn't always turn on) and a GS E-bell.
3 masts
2 gates
8 sets of lights.
Bracketed mast lights.
# Track sign featured on the over head of the cantilever.
Point of interest:
Located next to a very active railroad draw bridge.
Crossing acquired gates as of 2 years ago.
If an Amtrak truck comes up to you, run...
You'll notice quite a few differences from the map vs. the pictures.
1) M-Bell on cantilever
2) No gates
3) Third mast only has 1 set of lights.

Re: Lumber Street
I remember this crossing. I had to look at something around here, and remember this crossing. A very strange one indeed...
