My thought was that the maintainer was working on the crossing... but you might be right. He could be there to fix the malfunction.

if i ever get time to make my way over there i will get the double xings in eureka and pacific mo

This crossing isn't active, but I thought it was worth posting. Would be a cool place to train watch. Two active tracks cross paths at this crossing. It has a total of 4 gated signals plus a rather short cantilever that looks like it has been there for awhile.

The Google car is actually pacing the train. If you move backwards you can see the train is running right along with the car. The car eventually gets ahead of the train a little ways up the road.

Pretty good one there. The gates could use some synchronization though.

Yeah, that is a pretty good one. Looks like the gates are on the way back down again after the train had cleared the crossing. Either a malfunction or maybe another train on a different track?

A bit unusual. Four bells and clear LEDs. Nice.

Detroit MI:

Believe Amtrak just passed, you can see (I think) the engine to the left if you move forward. Also note both signals have Safetran Type 1's on them.

Another one in Detroit, kind of an odd crossing:
