Intermodel Traffic through Central Illinois

Can't have signals without railroads, so talk about your favorite locomotives, railroads and any other (non signal) railroad related stuff.

Intermodel Traffic through Central Illinois

Post by illinoistrains »

copied from an email

"starting the middle of October, traffic to and from Mexico will start running from the new JIT (Joliet Intermodal Terminal), a.k.a., Global 4 at the end of October via the Springfield and Joliet Subdivisions! Look for a couple of trains to start, and it will grow from there!! In preparation for this, all sidings on the Springfield Sub. have been raised to 30 MPH, so there are no more 10 MPH sidings on this Sub.!"

I am glad to hear this. This track runs through Springfield, IL and will be the first time that regular double stack train go through town, and it will be strange to see intermodel trains next summer in Auburn. cabman701, be on the lookout for these trains!
