Interesting to have all those signals and gates just for a single track which soon ends.SouthernPacificLines wrote:Here's one on the VCRR line, some of you may know this crossing better as the crossing which was featured in Back To The Future 3, its changed alot since then though!...

What is so special about them?SouthernPacificLines wrote:Yeah its just a shame that none of them are left in service around here.PaulSP wrote: Darn you beat me to it, but yeah those are what they look like.
SP classics if you ask me.
They have hydraulic oil mechanism? Not motor and gears?
I remember REAL gates, with black and white stripes, which had two beams which came together < and balance weights
Many had a support rod.

All I saw were gateless and more modern (modern for the 80s) gates.
Re: Tracks out of service
Those things were everywhere in the San Joaquin Valley too. SJVR still has several, but their age is catching up with them.

Re: Tracks out of service
I know a set in Hanford that were repainted recently. I will try to get over there this weekend. Also the 11th Ave crossing has a change that I'll try to get to also.
