Re: Favorite Class 1
I'm not voting, because my answer goes to a choice not listed:
"None Of The Above".
"None Of The Above".
Re: Favorite Class 1
I voted for CP, because even though they are doing some things with their signals and their locomotive paint schemes that I do not like, they are still better than the other Class Is that operate through this area in those respects.
They also seem to be relatively railfan-friendly, with lots of good photogenic spots where they won't hassle you, plenty of train volume on the main line, and to judge from people I've talked to they have a reputation for good customer service, even on branch lines, that is lacking among their major competitors (CNcoughCN).

Re: Favorite Class 1
I voted Union Pacific for several reasons.
1. They absorbed Southern Pacific and it's the ideal line on which to see old SP units.
2. They are better at keeping older signals and mechanical bells than BNSF.
3. They don't close as many crossings as BNSF.

You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.

I said BNSF. I know that when they send a train by here, maybe I can get lucky enough for a good old Warbonnet. Also on a side note, Amtrak and Via Rail are not Class 1 railroads.

None of the above for me. I love Pan Am Railways, which took over Guilford Rail System (Big G in railroad lingo)

Rest In Peace Guilford SD26 615!
