Guess I'll post the first pic!

This was taken again back in 2003 on the same train trip as the photo I posted from last month. This is on Jefferson St in Springfield and is only a block from where I work. As you can see, the weather conditions have deteriorated quite a bit as a strong thunderstorm was moving in. This picture was snapped literally seconds before a huge downpour. I shot this out my car window to keep the camera from getting wet.

Here's mine. This old Griswold currently stands on display at the Vinton, IA depot.

I agree with illinoistrains 100%. Is that signal operational by chance?

I doubt it. The gate doesn't have any counterweights on it. Without the weights the gate wont function like its suppose to, and I bet that thing is heavy. I bet its only for display.

I see what you mean. I was kind of hoping the grey box to the right of the singal could have been a control box for it though.

The gate has a counterweight, it's out of view.

The signal has sat neglected for years, which is why it looks the way it does

Sure it looks cool, but I bet it's a pain to work on.

The fact that the signal has remained untouched is what (in my opinion) makes it neat. Other than the obvious weathering of it, it still looks like it has all of it's original parts.
