Am not sure how rare this is

Am not sure how rare this is

I found this one crossing where the gate is pretty far away from the main signal itself. I have never really seen it that far away, am not sure if this is rare or not

It's a bit rare. On that crossing, I'm willing to bet there was a second track at one time and the gate was moved up when that track was removed. They just didn't want to go through the trouble of moving the cantilever.

There is an alleyway on either side of the track, and the cantilevers on both sides were "planted" on the outside of that alley as there wasn't enough room both both the cantilever and gates next to the track. As you can see, both gate masts have sidelights pointing in both directions.
