On Milnor Street. It can be found between the New State Road on ramp and exit on I-95 and Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in Philadelphia, PA.ZachL wrote:Where is this located?

Re: This Is Pretty Much Exempt
Thats good that its still standing, but if someone would refirbish it, with the original bells and original lights, BTW is that a 70's style crossing?
Cheers From Florida!

You can find remains of the line over here:
https://www.google.com/maps?q=Tacony-Pa ... ,9.65&z=20
https://www.google.com/maps?q=Tacony-Pa ... 13.36&z=20
It was once an electrified line obviously. I think it was once Reading based on the equipment.
You can find a few bridges here and here.

Re: This Is Pretty Much Exempt
It isn't exempt if it doesn't say exempt! Most drivers of vehicles that would be affected by that "exemption" that have regular routes through there probably ignore it, though.

Re: This Is Pretty Much Exempt
Honestly, it's past exempt. Abandoned and gone. This line I now believe was own by Reading which was gone in 1976. In other words, it was out of service decades ago. Look at the old line in Google Maps.AndyWS wrote:It isn't exempt if it doesn't say exempt! That's kind of like this line that goes through a subdivision and used to connect to our local power plant. It hasn't seen a train in 15 to 20 years easily, and the tracks are completely severed just a few blocks from the plant. But they recently put new crossbucks and yield signs at 3 crossings in this subdivision, even though the crossings are paved over. Only one of the crossings (on a main thoroughfare) has exempt signs.AndyWS wrote:It isn't exempt if it doesn't say exempt! Our school and transit buses are required to stop at these crossings, although like Andy said not all of them do. But if a driver is caught either by their employer or the cops is could be bad news for them...

Re: This Is Pretty Much Exempt
For the crossing you showed me I could see why. Only difference between that one is that the Ex- Reading(or whatever line ) hasn't witnessed a train anything on here for almost 40 years and this crossing has probably been bashed and vandalized ever since. PDOT could care less about a crossing on a side road. If you go to that location, the crossing has one light and lense and the rails are currently noticeable until you run over them. I might add that this isn't the most used road. That is why the signal is probably still standing or else it would have been removed. Now the tracks will be buried and track will to the left will be gone because the bridge it's next to is being shortened and gravel will be covering the tracks under the overpass. I don't want to put up an arguement but I have known well enough the line is exempt and abandoned. It's a miracle the signal is still there.cabman701 wrote:That's kind of like this line that goes through a subdivision and used to connect to our local power plant.
