A Special Event has appeared! What will happen this time?
This month is Light Emitting Diode Month! Only LED signals are allowed in here. 8" 12X20's 12X24's you name it they have to be LED. Incandescant lighted crossings will be eliminated on sight! There's also a catch! You have to have one of the lights ON! SO they both can't be off!
YES!
YES!
NO!
NO!
Now you know the rules and the yes's and No's. So Post your LED shots!
Here's my entry... this is the Trinity Railway Express crossing MacArthur Blvd. in Irving, Texas. This is kind of a weird crossing since it is underneath the Irving Blvd. (TX 356) underpass. These are brand-new Safetran LED signals. Photo taken 4/4/2009. I'll be submitting the rest of the photos I took at this crossing to Mike's website next month.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Ben Franklin
People who need a foot up their Ass affect the lives of many. There is still no cure for someone who needs a foot up their Ass, except a foot up their Ass
I speak my mind, if you don't like that oh well. I'll have you fill out a hurt feelings report and submit that to my office.

They are doing a lot of construction along that section of the TRE. They have elevated the line and grade-separated some of the crossings west of MacArthur such as Story Road, Belt Line Road, and Briery Road (too bad I didn't get some photos of the old Raco cantilever signals that were there per street view!). At the remaining crossings that don't already have 4-quad gate systems they were installing new signals. I think that's what they were doing at MacArthur, since there were new signals (without gates yet) on the "wrong" sides of the road. Kind of unnecessary in my opinion since there is already a large median there. Most of the signals they are replacing, the only difference between the old signals and the new are incandescants vs. LEDs and m-bells vs. e-bells. I don't know why they couldn't have left the old signals alone and just added additional signals for the quadrant gates. I'll be submitting the complete set of photos from this and some other TRE crossings to Mike's website in about 3 weeks.
