Junee, Australia.

This is the Olympic Hwy (Town Rd) crossing at Junee NSW, Australia. It is on the main line between Sydney and Melbourne, and is located roughly at the halfway point between the two cities. Junee is also the junction for the branch line to Narrandera and Griffith.

The signals here were installed in December 1970 and were manually controlled from Junee North Signal Box (the large building at the crossing) until May 2007, when the signal box was de-commissioned and the crossing converted to automatic operation. In June 2014 the original WRRS/GRS Type D gate mechs were replaced by Safetran ones, but the rest of the equipment on the crossing is original. All signals have unmarked bases and the lights are McKenzie & Holland 8 inch, fitted with LED inserts.

There are two McK&H teardrop bells on the crossing, however the bell on the eastern side has recently died. Previously it would ring from start-up until the gates rise. As a temporary fix for the dead bell, the other remaining bell on the western side was altered to ring until the gates rise. Previously it would only ring until the gates had lowered. The fate of the dead bell is unknown at this stage, it will either be repaired or replaced.

The pedestrian signals were installed in May 2004. They consist of Magnetic Autocontrol swing gates and "Don't Walk" lights made by Aldridge Traffic Systems. The alarms are mounted inside the gate mechs, and cannot be seen to identify their maker.

The crossing on GSV. The most recent images are from 2010 and show the old Type D gate mechs.

It also appears that the crossing is being flagged, probably due to the machinery working on the track near the crossing.
