Safetran mechanical and "Type-1" e-bells are no longer produced. However, I am not sure if they still make "Type-2" or "Type-3" e-bells.

Aren't Safetran Type-2 bells kind of rare?ZachL wrote:Safetran mechanical and "Type-1" e-bells are no longer produced. However, I am not sure if they still make "Type-2" or "Type-3" e-bells.
Actual Safetran Type 2s are. NEGs are just about a dime a dozen, especially on the CSX and UP. Other than a different base on a few of them, they are also exactly alike the Safetran Type 2s, AFAIK.ToledoRailfan wrote:Aren't Safetran Type-2 bells kind of rare?ZachL wrote:Safetran mechanical and "Type-1" e-bells are no longer produced. Yes. US&S sells WCH mechanical bells though, but I don't know if they still put their own logo on the backs of them like they did for a while.nickrink wrote:Is WCH the only one who still makes mechanical bells?ZachL wrote:Safetran mechanical and "Type-1" e-bells are no longer produced. Correct. A Safetran Type-2 e-bell has an exposed area on the base, whereas an NEG e-bell has a metal ring around the base.freebrickproductions wrote: Actual Safetran Type 2s are. Actually, NEG and Safetran Type 2s are exactly the same externally. UP just likes to put metal rings around the bases of theirs. However, some NEG e-bells have a very similar base to that of a General Signals e-bell.ZachL wrote:Correct. I guess you're right, although for a while it almost looked like CSX was doing the same:freebrickproductions wrote:Actually, NEG and Safetran Type 2s are exactly the same externally. That's probably what it's mounted on showing through the base.ZachL wrote:I guess you're right, although for a while it almost looked like CSX was doing the same:freebrickproductions wrote:Actually, NEG and Safetran Type 2s are exactly the same externally.
