Interesting Crossing in Dewey OK

Post by Brian556 »

This crossing has two mast signals. The interesting things are 1) The crossbuck on the control box and 2) The old bases before the crossing going the other direction.

I'm thinking that one of the signals was knocked down and the crossbuck on the control box was a temporary measure. You can see the original base near the current signal.

The other direction really gets weird. There is an old base, but there is another item nearby that might or might not also be an old base, but they are way before the crossing, and there is no old base at the crossing itself. The signal looks to be the same age as the other one.

I'm thinking there may have been more than 1 track there in the past. That could explain the older bases. The signals were gradually moved forward as they were able to.
