*originally recorded on 10-27-18*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Electro-tech LEDs and a WCH mechanical bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Electro-tech LEDs and a WCH Type 3 electronic bell.

This is another rather nice crossing. As far as I know, this is the only remaining gateless crossing on the Roseville Sub in the Reno area, and I don't think any of the equipment is original. There is evidence that there used to be a very old pair of gateless signals here originally, which were later replaced by a pair of Safetran signals, it appears. However, the Safetran signals have since had pretty much everything on them replaced, so only the masts remain. However, this is also the last crossing on the line in this area with a mechanical bell, and the WCH Type 3 seems to be an older one as the bell sounds rather scratchy, especially when starting. I guess the speaker on it's starting to go.
I also intentionally set-up my shot this way, as I wanted to show the train entering the tunnel that's right next to this crossing. The tunnel also features a pair of block signals right outside of it, which are rather useful as they light-up whenever a train gets near them, regardless of which side of the signal the train is on. This crossing is also pretty much in the middle of nowhere, as I didn't see anyone else other than people hiking across the hills around here. All in all, a pretty nice crossing with some rather nice views.
They/Them for me, please.
