Before CSX became a railroad, there was the holding company CSX Corp.
This logo, IMO, would be great to be put back into use, as it emphasizes the meaning of CSX:

Very cool. From what I read it was Chessie & Seaboard and the X (as you said) stood for multiplication meaning 'Together we are so much more'.
