*originally recorded on 8-2-19*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of WABCO 8 inch lights, a WRRS mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of WABCO 8 inch lights, a dead WRRS mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
This was the last place I caught G410 at. I had wanted to record this crossing, so I chased the train on down here, even though the sun had long-since set by this point. Fortunately, the street lights, as well as my van's headlights, were able to provide enough ambient light for this crossing to record it (even if my camera did have some trouble staying focused, lol). After this, since I was to be heading back home the following day, I decided to head on back to the hotel and get some sleep.
This crossing is a pretty nice one. It appears that the current signals were installed by the SCL in the 1970s/early 1980s, though the bells here were re-used. Personally, I think that this had replaced an older pair of WRRS signals from either the ACL or early SCL, but I can't say for certain. The crossing likely remained largely unchanged for a few decades after this, however, it appears that in the late 2000s/early 2010s, CSX replaced whatever gate mechs were here (likely WABCO Model 75s) with the current Safetran gate mechs. Since then, no major changes have occured, which is quite nice to see.
Sadly, like most of the crossings along this line that I filmed with a pair of WRRS bells, one of them is dead. The crossing also retains a set of incandescent gate lights on the far signal, which is quite nice to see. All in all, this was a nice crossing to end this day off on, so I'm glad to have been able to record it.
They/Them for me, please.
