Private Crossing, near Townley, AL
*originally recorded on 9-20-19*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
This was the next crossing I caught the military train at. It features another pair of older Safetran gateless signals, though I'm not sure if the BNSF or BN put these up. The original bell appears to have been replaced with the current GS Type 2 at some point though, which is pretty typical of many older BNSF crossings. For whatever reason, BNSF calls this crossing "Drummond Coal Road" on the relay case, even though it's a privately owned road that isn't signed at all. I did get the meet the owner of the land just beyond the crossing after the train passed, and he was pretty nice.
They/Them for me, please.

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs and a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs and a dead General Signals (Type 3?) electronic bell.
While chatting with the signal maintainers in Kansas, one of them had told me that this crossing had just been upgraded, so I wasn't too surprised to see brand new gateless signals here. As the train was traveling rather slowly, I was able to beat it here without much issue as well. Apparently, despite having been just recently installed, the bell on my side was already dead, which I found a bit odd. I did call it in though, and you'll see the this next video...

After catching the H-BIRMEM at Supreme Road, I leap-frogged it on up to this crossing. However, it took it quite a while to get here (for whatever reason), I'm guessing due to more signal issues at CP North Townley, perhaps? Either way, it eventually came rolling through just after sunset before it got too dark.
As you can see, in the few hours since my previous video of this crossing, BNSF had come out here and replaced the dead bell on the closer signal with a working one. The replacement bell, a bit unusually, is a beat-up General Signals Type 2 e-bell, though I don't really have any idea where this one would've come from. Obviously, no other major changes have occured to this crossing between the two videos.
Bit of a shame to see the older gateless signals go, though.
