*originally recorded on 11-11-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights.
This was the second to last crossing I chased NS 329 to on this day, meeting-up with Norfolk Southern NA Memphis District Railfan while I was here. This crossing features a nice pair of older gateless SOU signals, which appear to be from the 70s originally. In the early to mid 90s, NS upgraded the lights here to the current Safetran 12x24s, and the bell was replaced with the current GS Type 2 in the 2000s. Since then, no major changes have occured here (thankfully). With this video, I've also been able to record every gateless crossing on the NS NA District!
The signals here are also somewhat tall as well. It appears originally, there was a second track here (which has since been removed), so the signals were made taller to accommodate the 2 tracks signs above the lights. I personally kinda like the height of them though, as the proportions remind me of old gateless SCL signals.
This is also the first crossing north of the diamond with the BNSF Birmingham Subdivision.
They/Them for me, please.
