*originally recorded on 12-21-20*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
This was the second crossing I caught NS 320 at, and it's a pretty decent one. Originally there was a pair of gated 1980s NS signals here, which were entirely original up until at least 2009. Between 2009 and 2014, the original Safetran mechanical bell here was replaced with a General Signals (Type 2?) e-bell. Then, sometime around 2014/2015 or so, both signals here were replaced with the current one, and I'm not entirely sure if the GS Type 2 here was re-used from the old signals or not, or was even just simply installed at a later date to replace a dead Safetran Type 3. Either way though, the crossing has pretty much remained almost entirely unchanged since, which is nice to see given the nice bell combo it has.
Also nice to see is that the bells here still ring when the gates rise, which actually seems to be quite common with gated signals on this line, especially compared to other NS lines in the state.
They/Them for me, please.
