First video was recorded on the night of 5-21-20, while the second vid was recorded on 3-8-21. This crossing is certainly unique in 2 ways. First of all, it's the only crossings on the Mexico Sub that has its bells ring again when the gates rise (similar to what the crossings on the Sedalia Sub had before UP reprogrammed almost all of their bells). Only other crossing on a KCS line I know of that has this bell sequence is 17th St #2 on the KCS Pittsburg Sub. And second, this crossing has pedestrian signals that are mostly found on traffic light intersections for pedestrians to cross the road. Not sure why KCS installed these signals instead of normal pedestrian signals, but it's certainly interesting to see. These signals were installed sometime in 2010 replacing older gateless signals that were originally installed by the Gateway Western. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.0720614 ... 328!8i1664
Here's what the old signals looked like before KCS replaced them. This crossing used to be very similar to Northern Blvd before the big upgrade with the sidewalk being added. It's still a shame the old signals are long gone, but I really do like the current signals that are here.
Proud owner of 7 mechanical bells along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.
