*originally recorded on 6-21-21*

Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

This was the third crossing we chased L783 to, and it's a pretty nice one. The signals here were installed in the mid-90s by the Georgia Central, and were pretty much original until sometime between 2014 and 2016, when the dead Safetran mechanical bell on the closer signal (which had been dead for a while at this point, IIRC) was replaced with the current GS Type 3. The Safetran mechanical bell on the other signal lasted at least a little while longer, but was already gone by the time I first got out here in 2020. However, this crossing still remains incandescent (and is the last incandescent one in Lyons), and all of the lights have some rather neat lenses in them. The bells here also have an interesting operation, with the one on the far signal ringing until the gates have lowered and the closer one ringing until they rise. Not entirely sure if they're supposed to do that, or if they were even set this way back when the signals were first installed, but it might explain why the closer Safetran bell died before the other one did.
