Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Federal Signal 8 inch lights, a Safetran Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Federal Signal 8 inch lights, a Federal Signal mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching the northbound intermodal, we went to the next crossing south in Ridgeland since we'd heard there was a second northbound on the way. And sure enough, after not too long of a wait, this northbound mixed freight came through with an ES44AH on the head-end and another ES44AH working as the mid-train DPU. While we were waiting here though, we got to meet a local railfan, so that was nice.
This crossing's another rather nice one, featuring another SCL install from the mid-70s. Unlike the previous crossing though, this one's still mostly original, with only two major changes occurring at it, it appears. The first is that it appears that the original Safetran gate mech on the closer signal got replaced with the current one in the 80s by the SBD, followed by the far signal's original Federal Signal mechanical bell being replaced in the 2000s by CSX with the current Safetran Type 2. Since then though, thankfully no major changes have occured here, with this crossing retaining much of its original equipment. Honestly, probably my favorite things here are the full sets of Federal Signal 8 inch lights on both signals and the nice and healthy sounding Federal Signal mechanical bell on the closer signal. Hopefully this crossing remains untouched for many more years to come, as it's a rather classic install. Either way though, I'm certainly glad to have been able to film it.
They/Them for me, please.
