Brady Road, near Americus, GA
*originally recorded on 7-31-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After documenting some crossings around Americus, I noticed it was getting close to the time for the return trip, so I went out to Plains. However, after a little while of waiting (not realizing they were just running late), I was a bit afraid I'd missed them, so I went back over to Americus to catch them. Had the choice between recording this crossing or Glessner Street first, though I chose to go with this one first as I wasn't sure if I'd've been able to beat the train between the two. Turns out I might've been able to, but either way, I'm still okay with what I got. Either way, here we see the train on its return trip to the state park with the ex-SOU GP38-2 leading this time around.
This crossing, like the others I'd recorded today, is a rather nice one. The signals here were installed by the GSWR in the 80s, and haven't really changed much at all since they were installed. Both Safetran mechanical bells here sound quite healthy, which is quite nice to see. Hopefully they'll remain here unchanged for a good while yet to come, but either way, I'm glad to have been able to film them.
They/Them for me, please.
