Recorded on 2-26-22. Another Mexico Sub catch for today, this time I return to Bates City to film the other signalized crossing. I heard this train pass by behind my house at around 12:40pm. I raced out to Bates City to film this train at a crossing I have been wanting to see in action ever since I was little I used to visit this crossing all the time during Memorial Day weekend since there's a cemetery behind me. I have tried to catch a train here every year I my family drives out here, but unfortunately no trains came, except for the one time in 2011, but I unfortunately had a phone that didn't record videos. Today, I finally hit the jackpot and caught the EB MKCVN with more EMDX Tier 4 sd70aces trailing. This crossing may seem boring to some, but this crossing has some history. These signals were installed sometime in the early 2000s. Both signals used to have a pair of safetran hybrid bells up until 2008 when both bells got replaced with a pair of safetran type 2's, however the safetran type 2 on the closest signal must've died sometime before 2013, and so KCS replaced the dead e bell with the current NEG e bell with the closed bottom. This isn't the only crossing within the Kansas City area that has a closed bottom NEG, there's a crossing over in the Fairfax area on a UP line in Kansas City Kansas that has a closed bottom NEG similar to this bell. It's a shame the hybrids are long gone, but there are still some left on the Mexico Sub I will try to film someday.
Proud owner of 7 mechanical bells along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.
