*originally recorded on 1-19-22*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

After catching the LORAM rail grinder in McDonough, my mom and I went down to the other crossing I was hoping to get on the NS Atlanta South. On the way to it, we drove past a pair of intermediates reading yellow of yellow, advanced approach, for southbounds. Typical indication for those, it appears, so likely nothing lined. However, the next pair of intermediates we passed, as I peeked at them through the trees, appeared to be showing a red for southbounds, and something seemed to have just been lined north! We continued on over to the north end of the siding in Jenkinsburg, and, sure enough, there was a northbound lined through it! As such, we went back over to this crossing and I set-up. After just a little bit of waiting, this northbound NS mixed freight came through with a trio of Dash-9s for power!
After this, we continued on down to our hotel room in Valdosta, GA, for the night.

This crossing is another nice one, and it's pretty easy to see why I wanted to get this one as well. The signals here are a late-70s SOU install, though it appears that in the 2000s (or early 2010s), NS replaced all of the original Safetran 8 inch lights here with the current Safetran 12x20s. Since then, however, thankfully no major changes have occurred to this crossing, it appears.
This crossing is one of the last three on the Atlanta South with a mechanical bell, which is nice to see. As I'd already recorded the other two, I wanted to get this one as well, and I'm glad I was able to. The bell here still sounds pretty decent, though admittedly it does sound a bit flat and clattery, but that might just be due to the age. Hopefully it stays around for a good while longer, but either way, I'm quite glad I was able to get this crossing recorded.
They/Them for me, please.
