Kingston Springs Road (TN 249), Pegram, TN
*originally recorded on 1-2-23*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After catching CSX M531 in Nashville, I chased it on over to this crossing in Pegram for the next place I'd catch it at. The signals here are a nice 90s CSX install, which is thankfully still largely original. The only major change here occurred between 2016 and 2019, when CSX sadly upgraded this crossing to the current LEDs. Since then, however, no major changes have occurred here, thankfully. Seems like CSX decided to upgrade the full-90s installs along this line and many of the ones on the Memphis Sub to LED. No idea why they did just the handful of 90s installs, but they certainly did. Think there's now only one fully-original 90s CSX install left in Middle Tennessee, and that's on the Mainline Sub between Gallatin and Portland.
The WCH mechanical bell here is still going, though sounds fairly rough. Hopefully CSX gives it some TLC, but, either way, I'm glad I got this crossing filmed when I did. Also got to meet another railfan here, which was neat.
