Prospect Road, Aragon, GA
*originally recorded on 5-21-23*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Once we finally got a train at Collard Valley Road, we continued on south to Aragon to get at least one more crossing there filmed before he had to head home. However, the signal at Aragon Siding showed that there would be a meet there, so I decided to take us to this crossing first. After a little bit of waiting, my sixth and best catch of the day came through: a southbound grain train with an NS Dash-9 leading a UP AC44CW and an NS AC44C6M for power! Always nice seeing another Dash-9 leading.
This crossing's another decent one, featuring a pair of gated signals NS had installed back in the early-2010s. Unfortunately, these signals replaced a pair of late-SOU GRS signals, which still featured almost all of their original GRS Lex-C lights prior to replacement (though one had been replaced with a RACO/Safetran 8 inch light at some point). Although not much has changed to these signals since they were installed, sometime within the past few years, the original GS Type 2 e-bell on the closer signal must've died and was replaced with the current GS Type 3 e-bell. Thankfully, however, the closer signal also still retains a nice older diagonally striped gate arm on it, which is nice to see.
