*originally recorded on 3-14-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After catching 29S in Winston, I decided to chase it back west towards Alabama. The next crossing I chased it to was this one in Tallapoosa, where, after a little while of waiting, I was able to catch NS 29S crawling past once again.

This crossing is a pretty decent one, featuring a mid-90s NS install at it. In about 2015/2016 or so, NS upgraded this crossing to LED. At about the same time, the original Safetran mechanical bell here was replaced with the current GS Type 3 e-bell. Since then, thankfully, nothing else too major has changed to this crossing, it appears. Hopefully these 90s signals remain around here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to film it when I did.
For whatever reason, part of an old crossbuck his mounted between the side lights here as well. No idea why this was done, though it seems to be something that's only seen on the older installs in Tallapoosa.
