Carrollton Avenue (GA 113), Temple, GA

*originally recorded on 3-27-25*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After catching 26A in Villa Rica, I snagged myself some lunch and hopped on over to this crossing in Temple to wait for my next train. After a little bit of waiting, I was able to get my fifth train of the day here: NS 395 with a lone ET44AC for power.

This crossing is a pretty neat one, featuring a 1980s NS install that lacks any front lights. It appears that in the early-2000s, NS replaced the bell here with the current GS Type 2 e-bell. The crossing remained largely unchanged for a few years after, but then, in the mid-2010s, NS upgraded the crossing to LED and swapped-out the original 24 inch backgrounds here with the current 20 inch ones. Since then, nothing else too major has changed to this crossing, thankfully.
This part of Carrollton Avenue is basically just a short connector between two parallel roads on either side of the tracks, hence why both signals here have the neat set-up where they completely lack front lights, which I always do enjoy seeing. Georgia State Route 113 also makes a hook around through this crossing to cross the NS East End District, due to a truck ban over the James Street crossing where it would've otherwise crossed. All in all, this is definitely a neat crossing, and I hope it remains here for many more years to come.
