Pedestrian Crossing #2, Maitland, FL

Post by freebrickproductions »

*originally recorded on 6-25-25*

Signal on the left: 4 inch L&W LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 1 4 inch L&W LED gate light, 1 4 inch L&W gate light, and a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell.
This crossing is located in a quiet zone. Trains do not usually blow their horns at this crossing

After catching the northbound SunRail train, I decided to hang around at the station here and see if I could get the other pedestrian crossing there filmed. Thankfully, the signal just south of the station soon upgraded for a southbound to come through, and I got set-up here. Unfortunately, a little bit after setting-up, I discovered a better angle for this crossing so of course I wound-up moving my camera literally just before the crossing activated. Ah well, it is what it is I guess. Regardless, I was still able to get my sixth train of the day here: a southbound SunRail commuter train with an MP32PH-Q for power, shoving on the rear.

This crossing is a pretty neat one. The signals here were installed by SunRail sometime between 2013 and 2014 when the station and crossing here were built. Since then, the only changes here seem to be that most of the 4 inch gate lights here got LEDs in them, and the original GS e-bell here was replaced with the current GS Type 3 e-bell at some point. Unsurprisingly, I have no idea when any of these changes would've occurred.
Regardless, I'm glad to have been able to record this crossing, as, before now, I had never had the chance to record one of these pedestrian crossings with these little L&W "micro-signals". Of course, that's at least partially because these little L&W signals aren't really used at all here in the southeast outside of SunRail, and I know there's a bunch around Chicago on the Metra that TommyBNSF has filmed a bunch. Still nice to get another "bucket list" item checked-off though, though I do hope to get a better recording of some of these at some point, lol.
They/Them for me, please.
