What do you get when I've been stuck in development for a few months, barely any room for development, and deciding to upload on a certain holiday? Well, you get another update from me, Ethan the Railfanner, with this time, covering what I documented across Illinois! As a Halloween special, I decided to upload all of my Illinois photos and I'm pretty great about what I've got here.
Since this update focuses on Illinois, it means a lot a good stuff, but most particularly, the rest of the CSX Illinois Subdivision, is completely documented by me of course; since this line has been in OOS purgatory for over 10 years now, it is currently unknown what the fate of this CSX line will be. But other than that, the other interesting equipment here can range from old installs on the Herrin Railroad within Herrin, to even some L&N equipment still surviving on the EVWR! Sure, there are some gateless installs, even brand new ones, but even then you'll come across a few that don't really have much interest, such as those with the white title. (Look for the yellow and green title crossings.)
It's also my first time updating Illinois on my end as well, and someone might ask, "will you document more crossings in Illinois?" and the answer to that is "yes." I have plans in the near future to document more crossings in Illinois, mostly in the south part, and may even attempt to finish documenting every one in the next few years or so. However, I have been running into problems when trying to edit the A-K index file; it's due to the size of it, being over 400 Kilabytes, and that's something Adobe Dreamweaver can barely handle. So in the near future or so, I will split Illinois further into 6 sections, just like California, so that way it gives me some breathing room to deal with editing the indexes for future updates.
If you find any errors, please let me know. While in development, I also fixed some errors from other states. As someone who works full time Monday-Friday, it won't be easy for me to reach and fix those errors, but in the meantime, I already have plans in place for my next update, which I'll give it the title: "The Florida Panhandle Update." As someone who has been to Florida many times in the past few years and recently, I can guarantee many Florida updates coming in 2026, as that is the year I'll prioritize on Florida. (Expect this state to be fully documented by 2026 as well, will be focusing on the FEC and the Miami-West Palm Beach area. Everywhere else in the state is complete.) I will try my best to get this Florida update out, but it won't be easy. I'll also consider working on other states as well, considering that I still got a crossing photos sitting in storage across 10 states.
Until then, see you next time for Florida!

Re: 10-31-25 Update
How long did it take you to make all these pages??
“Always remember to STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN! It’s better to stop and be late than to run through and test fate. So the next time you are at a railroad crossing after you have stopped, looked, and listened, sit back, relax, and take in the sights and sounds of these majestic pieces of American history. It’s not every day that a show is free.” - Railpage.com
