amulance races train to a crossing and makes it

Can't have signals without railroads, so talk about your favorite locomotives, railroads and any other (non signal) railroad related stuff.

What a misleading title.

The ambulance crossed the tracks well before the crossing signals even activated.

Years ago I had this happen to me.

Our quarters were half a block from the tracks.
We were dispatched emergent on a respiratory arrest.

The grade crossing signals were activated on the single track.
As I approached the crossing, I carefully looked and calculated and without slowing passed two vehicles stopped at the crossing.
The engineer had just begun the horn crossing sequence.
In the rearview mirror I saw that the train arrived about 15 seconds after I crossed.
I'm now self-employed but my boss is a moron.
My life is an open book. Unfortunately, I'm illiterate.
My patients' arrhythmias straighten themselves out!!
