I just got IM'd by a friend of mine. He sat at a gateless malfunctioning railroad crossing for 10 MINUTES tonight before finally deciding to check for trains and proceed through the crossing.
Does anyone know of anyone else who has waited more than 10 minutes at a malfunctioning crossing?

Especially a gateless one...
Re: Most PATIENT Driver?
Just my luck that one time, we got to a crossing that just started up. We waited for 30 seconds for a horn. It never sounded. Five minutes later, I got out and looked both ways down the tracks. Nothing. Ten minutes later, it was rush hour, and people lifted up the gates on the OTHER side of the crossing(there is a median). About that time, I called the emergency hotline on the signal. Five minutes later, the bells shut off, and the gates went up. I still have those stupid four bells (one clicks) ringing in my head.
Yes, my line does have a problem with malfunctions

Every line has problems with malfunctions thats what happens when you make a crossing fail-safe, its going to drop out when no train is coming.bnsflover wrote: Yes, my line does have a problem with malfunctions.
The difference is how often they malfunction and how well their maintained.
10 mins is good and long, but I sat at a crossing for 45 mins (Gs type 1 was awesome)I was board and had nothing else to do. It was the middle of the night not the greatest area of st Louis. I just sat in the car till after 45 mins the gates went up and I went home
